Q-Ride Restricted RE LAMS Motorcycle Licence Course
The Q-Ride RE course is the next step in your motorcycling journey once you have held your RE learners licence for at least 3 months (at least 1 year if you got an exemption from the pre-learner course).
Complete the Q-Ride restricted (RE) course
You must undertake the Q-Ride restricted (RE) course on a learner approved motorcycle which we provide free of charge at One Addiction.
During the course you will need to demonstrate your competency on a learner approved motorcycle. When you have been assessed as having acquired the required competencies, the Q-Ride training provider will issue you with a competency declaration (Q-Ride certificate). Your competency declaration is not a licence.
Once our Q-Ride trainer notifies the Department of Transport and Main Roads that you successfully completed the course you can apply for your RE provisional licence online.
Your competency declaration is only valid for 1 year from the date of issue. If you do not upgrade to an RE provisional licence within 1 year, it will expire and you will need to do the Q-Ride course again to get a new competency declaration.
There is no fee to upgrade your licence. However you will have to pay a fee if you are renewing your licence at the same time.
NOTE: All learner motorcycle licence holders must pass the online motorcycle hazard perception test before upgrading their learner licence to Restricted RE LAMS licence. You can take the test at any stage during your learner licence period.

Note: If you got your RE learner licence before 1 October 2016, there is no minimum time that you must hold your learner licence before you are eligible to do the Q-Ride restricted course.
